Overview of Connectivity Management Platform

The gradual increase in IoT device deployments from hundreds of thousands makes it crucial to have the right tools to manage and ensure connectivity and device deployments.  

  

Airlinq has the best IoT-managed infrastructure which offers access to a wide range of mobile networks globally to ensure global connectivity.  

  

At the center of this infrastructure is a connectivity management platform (CMP) which is a platform to manage connections and data of your connected devices. This has the sophisticated technology to ensure connectivity of devices across multiple networks and this automatically chooses and connects devices to available mobile networks to ensure optimum connectivity. Secondly, this connectivity management platform has required tools to manage and monitor devices.

  • Connectivity  

Air:Control CMP can manage device profiles which include downloading profiles to adapt to any changing environment such as managing device roaming movements to save extra roaming charges and avoid other restrictions along with device movement. The platform is designed in a way to achieve optimum connectivity by constantly switching between networks. It also has the provision to notify the MONs about the services being activated and deactivated whenever a device is provisioned or decommissioned from the network.  

It also authenticates devices to ensure the legitimacy of devices being connected to the provided network mainly by sending SMS. Then it’s just the remaining part which is allocating IP addresses to devices is also done simultaneously.  

 

  • Monitoring  

Data flow matrics, device issues, monitoring device performance, connectivity, or any other operational issues are monitored in real-time by a good connectivity management platform and any breach or unexpected behavior is detected by the same CMP.  

One of the key abilities is to provide matrics for individual device level or aggregated monitoring. Device performance due to global traffic flows across different network operators and steer connectivity of devices across networks based on cost and network optimization is also done by the same CMP.  

Under monitoring, a goof CMP also tells about last locations, customized events, network connections, data sessions, or some highlighted trends such as constant network switching or extremely high or low data transfers.  

  

  • Billing  

One of the key benefits of using a CMP is that it provides detailed billing records for each device. Other networks which device used at any given time or any other services which device might have used. It keeps track of that and could make financial management easy.
